Hi! My name is Donald HIte. I am an active musician and music educator in the Southeast Houston area. I teach private woodwinds and strings for students in various school districts and through my private studio. I have also worked as a classroom teacher, teacher band and orchestra in Houston ISD and band in Clear Creek ISD.
As a violinst/violist, I have performed with various Texas symphonies such as the Clear Lake Symphony, Galveston Symphony, and the San Angelo Symphony. Additionally, I work as a freelance composer/arranger for various local churches.
I hold a B.S. in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of Houston Clear Lake (2005). In addition to social sciences, I studied clarinet and violin/viola extensively in college, and I continued my viola studies with Larry Wheeler after graduating college.
I hold a Texas Educator's Certificate in Music and Early Childhood through 6th Grade Generalist, and I am certified in Suzuki Books 1-5 for Violin and 1-4 for Viola. I am also an active member and registered suzuki teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Southeast Texas Suzuki Association.
I am very passionate about teaching music to children because I know the benefits it will hold for them in the present and the future. In addition to being fun and challenging, studying music helps children learn important values like patience, discipline, perseverance, and appreciation of beauty (just to name a few).
